The society was started in 1927 with the purpose to preserve and document local history. The society runs a museum, where houses, tools, textiles and other interesting objects are displayed. Kristdala Hembygdsförening also arranges lectures connected to history, genealogy, and similar subjects. The society has also published books on local history.
Kristdala Hembygdsförening has about 600 members.
