GRETA GARBO

Greta Garbo, the famous Swedish-American actress, was born in Stockholm in 1905. Her surname was originally Gustafsson, but was later changed to Garbo. She started acting in minor roles in some Swedish movies and was soon discovered and went to Hollywood. After a number of successes she stopped acting in 1941, and withdrew from public life for many years. She died in New York 1990.
Greta Garbo's family came from the eastern part of Småland province. The family is connected to the noble family Sabelsköld. Here is Garbo's Sabelsköld connection.
