Despite the low attendance (due to zero advertising) Mark and his band
put on a great show for us Swedish fans (and one Italian). It's difficult
to take
pictures when Mark is playing, because his hands keep moving all the
time.
This is Nathan King, the guitarist. 'Nat' is Mark's younger brother
who
was able to do a mean Boon impersonation. He even did some things with
his
effects-pedals that made the guitar sound like a Roland.
Lyndon Connah tried his best to 'Emulate' Mike Lindups playing, and
to not sing like him. He succeeded with the latter but not the former...
Lyndon had some difficulties with the lyrics so he kept looking towards
his left where he had them written out on sheets of paper.
This is a picture of Mark kissing mike.
As an outro to one of the songs Mark faked 'shooting' his brother with
the bass. This explains the extremely high placement of his bass and
the
'pthtbthtbth' sound his lips make.
Mark is self-tought on the bass which often results in less-than-maximum
efficiency with left-hand fingerings and chord-choices. He is still
one of
the best bassplayers in the world so imagine what a monster he would
have been if he'd had 'proper' training.
This is a close-up of the body of his red Goodfellows bass with green
LEDs.
You can also study his percussive fingerstyle playing.
If you look closely you can see that Mark has four thumbs.
That's why he plays so fast.
Towards the end of the show Mark gets down and gets funky.
Behind him you can see Trevor Smith, the drummer. Or at least his kit.
Lastly, Mark if you see this, PLEASE don't take the poor attendance
as an excuse to not come back to Sweden again. I was glad that so many
DID show up despite the non-existant advertising. 'Bitter Moon' was
never
released in Sweden thus no airplay of that or the album. 'One Man'
usually
is just stuffed in one copy in the Level42 section in record shops.
No posters or flyers were printed to let anyone know you were coming.
There was one small ad in the newspapers the day the tickets were released
but that was easily missed. So if you decide to go on tour later, DO
come
to Sweden but make sure the responsible people do their job
promoting the gig properly!!!
