Colin Todd
1948:
Born in Chester-le-Street on December
12.
1966:
Joins Sunderland in December.
1971:
After scoring 3 goals in 173 Leauge
matches (3 as sub), joins
Brian Clough's Derby in February.
1972:
Helps Derby win League championship.
Makes England debut against Northern
Ireland.
1975:
Todd helps the Rams win the title again.
1977:
Wins last of 27 England caps against
Northern Ireland.
1978:
After 293 League appearances and 6
goals for
Derby, Todd is sold to Everton in September.
1979:
Makes just 32 appearances for the
Goodison club, scoring one goal, before
being
transferred to Birmingham in September.
1982:
Links up with Clough again in August,
this time at
Nottingham Forest, where he makes 36
appearances.
1984:
Moves to Oxford in February, where
he makes 12
appearances as they win the old third
division title.
After a spell in Canada with Vancouver
Whitecaps, joins Luton in October where
he makes 2
appearances.
1987:
Teams up with former Derby and Everton
team-mate Bruce Rioch at Middlesbrough
as
assistant manager.
1990:
Appointed manager of Middlesbrough
when Rioch is sacked.
1991:
Sacked by Middlesbrough. Takes up
coaching role at Bradford after an
approach from
manager Frank Stapleton.
1992:
Links up with Rioch again, this time
as his
assistant at Bolton.
1993:
Wanderers win promotion after finishing
runners-up in division two.
1995:
Bolton reach Coca-Cola Cup final, but
lose
2-1 to Liverpool. Promoted to Premiership
after
thrilling 4-3 play-off win over Reading
at
Wembley. Rioch quits for Arsenal and
Todd takes
over managership jointly with Roy McFarland.
1996:
McFarland sacked and Todd takes sole
charge, but Bolton are relegated.
1997:
Todd takes Wanderers back to the top
flight as first division champions.
1998:
Bolton goes down straight away again.
