Harry J. Redknapp
1947:
Born in Poplar on March 2.
1964:
The England Youth international signs
for West Ham as an
apprentice in March.
1965:
Makes his Hammers debut and in total
he makes 149 League
appearances (3 as sub), scoring 7 goals,
between 1965 and 1972.
1972:
Joins Bournemouth in August and between
then and 1975 he
makes 101 League appearances (5 as
sub) and scores 5 goals.
1976:
Moves to Brentford in September, but
only plays once for the west
London club.
1982:
Returns to Bournemouth, (after that
he retired on a non-contract basis) newly-promoted to division three, but
only makes one appearance that year.
1983:
Succeeds Don Megson as manager.
1987:
Guides the Cherries to the third division
championship and
promotion to division two for the first
time in their history.
1990:
Bournemouth are relegated back to division
three. Involved in a
serious car accident in Italy during
the World Cup.
1992:
Leaves Bournemouth. Moves to West Ham
in July to become
assistant manager to Billy Bonds.
1994:
Takes over as manager on the eve of
the new season in August
after Bonds resigns because of a dispute
with the club.
1995:
The Hammers finish 14th in his first
season in charge.
1996:
Lose 3-0 at Grimsby in an FA Cup fourth
round replay. West Ham
recover to finish 10th in the League.
1997:
Spends £7million on strikers
Paul Kitson and record signing John
Hartson just before the transfer deadline
to pull the club clear of
relegation.
1998:
Takes West Ham to a 8th place in the
Premiership.
