I had some different ideas, so I fired up my paint program to draw some Vor logos, based on the following assumptions:
![]() |
The Vorbarra logo in red and gold.
It shows the old Star Bridge in Vorbarr Sultana, the "star" is a pattern in the masonry of the bridge. The wavy lines represent the river. Or maybe this is the Vorhartung crest, the Star Bridge is close to Vorhartung Castle. |
![]() |
An alternative Vorbarra logo in blue and red.
There is a hint in "A Civil Campaign" chapter 15 that the Vorbarra colors might be dark blue and some other color, why not blue and red. |
![]() |
Could this be the Vorbarra crest?
There is a hint in "A Civil Campaign" chapter 17 that the Vorbarra crest might involve olive leaves, and LMB has hinted that the colors might be black and silver. |
![]() |
A "sculpted" version of the olive-leaf Vorbarra crest. |
![]() |
The Vorkosigan logo in brown and silver.
It shows a stylised maple leaf above three triangles representing the Dendarii mountains. There is actually some text evidence for this design, a quote
from "A Civil
Campaign" chapter 3:
|
![]() |
An alternative Vorkosigan logo in brown and silver.
The stylised maple leaf is on top of three triangles representing the Dendarii mountains. |
![]() |
Another Vorkosigan logo in brown and silver.
The maple leaf and the three triangles representing the Dendarii mountains are now inside a circular border. This design might fit the text evidence better. |
![]() |
An "embossed" version of the Vorkosigan crest.
This might be how it would look impressed on paper. |

![]() |
Mark Vorkosigan's Butterbug logo or label in brown and silver.
Mark intended this design in the Vorkosigan colors to remind the viewer of the Vorkosigan logo. |
![]() |
After MPVK Enterprises redesigned the butterbugs they
needed a new company logo or label.
The new logo shows the bugs' new name and new color scheme. |
![]() |
MPVK Enterprises use this advertising banner in the Vorkosigan ComConsole web surfer. |
![]() |
The logo of Count Vorsomeone in violet and gold.
It shows a star and two daggers. |
![]() |
The logo of Count Vorsomeone-on-the-coast in light green and red.
(Perhaps chartreuse and scarlet?).
The nautical theme and the fish were chosen at a time when it was not yet clear that it would be impossible to stock the oceans with Earth fish. |
![]() |
An alternative logo for Count Vorsomeone-on-the-coast, now with a border in form of an ellipse. |
![]() |
The logo of Count Vorsomeone-else in dark blue and light green.
(Perhaps navy and mint?).
This logo shows a flag surrounded by some greenery, perhaps having something to do with the terraforming effort. |
![]() |
An alternative logo for Count Vorsomeone-else,
now with a border in form of an ellipse.
Or is this what the Vorbarra crest looks like, but in black and silver? |
![]() |
The logo of Count Vorsomeone-different (maybe Vorspyder?)
in blue and gold.
Or could this perhaps be Count Vorpatrils logo? This logo commemorates a family heirloom from before the time of isolation, a picture of a young boy in uniform with the word "SPEIDER" visible on the breast pocket. They thought this meant "spider", but the boy was actually a Norwegian Boy Scout. |

I have tried my skills as a Fan Artist and made some sketches of Vorkosigan House. |

All Bujold fans have surely waited for the Vorkosigan ComConsole, reskinned versions of Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Suite, Netscape, or MS Internet Explorer with a "Vorkosigan" look. |
